Spotlight or His Light

ABOUT THIS MESSAGE

In a world obsessed with personal branding and self-promotion, this message calls us back to a fundamental truth: we were never created to build our own names, but to lift up His. Drawing from John the Baptist's powerful declaration in John 3:30—'He must increase and I must decrease'—we're challenged to examine whether our lives reflect a stewardship mindset or an ownership mentality. The message explores three critical spiritual postures for humble believers: recognizing that everything we have is entrusted to us, not owned by us; embracing a decreased ego so God's glory can increase; and adopting a servant mindset where position exists for people, not the other way around. Philippians 2:5-8 reminds us that Jesus, though equal with God, didn't use His status for personal advantage but humbled Himself to serve. This isn't about self-hatred or false humility—it's about giving up ego in favor of a God-centered life. When we grasp that God gave it and God can take it away, we handle our gifts, talents, and opportunities with holy fear and profound gratitude. The question isn't whether we're influential, but whether our influence points people to Jesus or to ourselves.
